Fall is a great time for a getaway in Cincinnati. Exploring the outdoors while enjoying vibrant hues and crisp, clean air in beautiful parks is an experience you should not miss. There are many places ideal for family-friendly fun and great spots to admire the changing colors of leaves. Here are some of the things you should do this fall in the Cincinnati region:
The 2nd and 3rd streets of Downtown Cincinnati are home to the world’s second-largest Oktoberfest festival. Every September, hundreds of thousands of people come together to celebrate several days of feasting and drinking.
There are many fun things to do in Cincinnati, but if you’re looking for something new, look no further than Topgolf. No matter the occasion or who you share it with, Topgolf offers a fun time. Play some golf, enjoy delicious food and drinks, and listen to some music.
Fall in Cleveland is marked by the crisp cool air and foliage ablaze with autumn colors. It’s a relaxing time to stroll through the colorful leaves and enjoy a warm cup of coffee. There is no shortage of ways to lean into the season. Here are our recommendations:
Patterson Fruit Farm gives you a taste of what it’s like to grow up on a farm. The farm is adorned with tons of slides, straw piles, corn mazes, play buildings, wagon rides, and more. Enjoy various outdoor activities at the Patterson Family Fun Fest, which will be open daily through October 30.
Cleveland is home to the Annual Fall Hiking Spree—the longest-running event of its kind in the nation. Explore all the hiking trails Summit Metro Parks has to offer.
Autumns in Kansas City are filled with a distinct collage of burnt oranges, toasty reds, and golden yellows. Friends and families get together to visit pumpkin patches and apple orchards. Kansas City is well-regarded as the Haunted House Capital of the World. The region touts scary Halloween experiences for only the bravest at heart.
Fall in Kansas City never runs out of festivals to offer. From Dancefestopia, Kansas State Fair, and Clyde Watermelon Festival to the Greeley Smokeoff, there is so much for you and your loved ones to experience this autumn.

Take a nostalgic ride on a trolley through a scenic route at the Minnesota Streetcar Museum. Visit the historic displays in their station and shop for unique gifts and souvenirs. During your trolley ride, your Motorman will provide interesting information about the car and Minnesota streetcar history.
When the summer temperature begins to cool down, the autumn season in Pittsburgh begins. It’s hard to put into words how truly beautiful the region can be when autumn starts. No matter your interests, taste buds, or even the weather, there are plenty of ways to enjoy Pittsburgh in the fall including the following:
Celebrating the kickoff of the football season in Western PA, the 2022 Acrisure Stadium Kickoff and Rib Festival is a fun event for everyone. The five-day event is all about football, the best ribs in the country, free live music, and more.
The Pittsburgh Irish Festival is a three-day Celtic Celebration. Enjoy live music, dance, traditional Irish food and beverages. There are also children’s crafts and games, genealogy, cultural exhibits, and more!
On October 15 to 16, Pittsburgh’s most spellbinding spectacle of colorfully colossal cucurbits and signature family fall festival begins. Visit the City’s newest pumpkin patch at the 3 Crossings campus between 28th and 29th streets for some family fun.
Phantom Fall Fest is Kennywood’s signature spooky-season event where you can do Halloween your way depending on the time of day. Looking for family-friendly fun? Visit the festival during the day for some festive food, roller coasters, rides, and a unique autumn atmosphere. For an exhilarating experience, visit the festival’s seven haunted houses and four scare zones at night.
Autumn tends to linger in the southern reaches of the Midwest. If you’re in St. Louis, the city has plenty to offer! From scarecrow hunts, to haunted houses, family trips to the zoo and special cinema screenings, there’s plenty to explore in the Gateway City:
Looking for fun and spooky things to do in the Missouri area this October? Drop by Eureka, Missouri for their annual Scarecrow Festival! Residents and businesses alike will be showcasing scarecrows all over the 11 square mile city, which you can go and see for yourself. The whole month also features different activities from block parties to a Halloween race.
Lauded as “America’s Top Free Attraction”, the St. Louis Zoo is home to over 14,000 animals, representing nearly 500 species. Everyone loves a spooky haunted house and St. Louis boasts a number of them throughout the month. The Cobb Factory Haunted House boasts new haunted experiences this year, including the Sewer of Feat, Eli’s Meat Locker, and the Doors of Doom. If you’re more interested in pumpkins and light shows, drop by Creepyworld to check out their Jack-O-‘Lantern Spooktacular. Looking for something more historic with a touch of the paranormal? The Lemp Brewery Haunted House might be more your speed.
2022 marks the 31st Annual Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival which showcases cutting-edge features and shorts from around the world.
