Nothing beats the feeling of coming home to a space that’s sparkling clean and clutter-free. Since Spring is right around the corner, we’re sharing our own list of essential spring cleaning tips to help you get the job done faster and more efficiently:
Work out the best schedule for your cleaning checklist to keep things efficient. Divide your list into daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal buckets. Under each, itemize specific tasks and include a rough estimate of how long you want to spend on each. Here are some examples:
By putting a routine in place, you divide and conquer the clutter and turn cleaning into a habit instead of a chore.

Another effective way to finish your spring cleaning checklist is to take it room by room. Take note of the areas that need extra attention such as the kitchen and bathroom. Pay special attention to the parts of your home that were neglected during the winter such as your garage or basement.
Most people forget to include windows and walls in their spring cleaning checklists. Wiping off grime and dust from your walls and washing your windows actually makes a huge difference in making your home feel much cleaner. We recommend going from top to bottom for the best results.
One of the most time-consuming parts of spring cleaning is getting rid of clutter. Marie Kondo—an acclaimed author of books about the joys of tidying up—says that “life truly begins only after you have put your house in order.”
Most people tend to organize their belongings into four categories: trash, give away, store, and put away. Marie, however, recommends categorizing them into clothes, books, papers, miscellaneous items, and, finally, sentimental items. As part of her KonMari MethodTM, she recommends keeping only the things that speak to the heart and discarding those that no longer spark joy.
No task is too difficult when you’re surrounded by people willing to lend a helping hand. Make your spring cleaning tasks easier by getting your household involved. Sprinkle in some fun by setting goals, establishing incentives, and putting some music on while everyone works.
Spring is the perfect time for backyard parties, barbecues, and cookouts. That’s why it’s important to tackle your seasonal cleaning checklist as soon as the first hint of spring arrives.
Clean your patio, wash the exterior of your windows and doors, and clean your grill. Don’t forget to put away and store your winter decor, clothing, and other items.
Your gutters serve as your roof’s drainage system. They divert thousands of gallons of water annually from your home’s exterior and foundation walls. When clogged by a build-up of debris, your gutters may be unable to drain rainwater from your roof, which can lead to costly and preventable damage.
To avoid this, make sure to get your gutters inspected at least twice a year. Clean and repair gutters every spring and before heavy rains begin in fall.
Whether you’re sensitive to allergens or not, it’s always a good idea to wear protective gear while cleaning. Put on a face mask when it’s time for dusting. Wear rubber gloves if you’re working with chemical-based cleaning products.
Clean beddings contribute to a lot of good things such as helping you enjoy a good night’s sleep, deterring dust mites, and keeping you comfortable. Wash your comforter and pillows regularly to get rid of any buildup of dirt and allergens. Before tossing them into the washing machine, make sure to check the manufacturer’s label for cleaning instructions.
We covered this a bit in tip #1, but completing a spring cleaning checklist is a great opportunity to start an ongoing cleaning routine.
Set aside 15 minutes of your day to tackle items on your spring cleaning to-do list. This helps in getting you in the habit of tidying up making your next spring cleaning even easier.
